Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Skimmio collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use the Skimmio website and services (collectively, "Skimmio" or the "Service"). It also explains the choices you have about your information.

1. Information you provide

We collect information you provide directly to us when you create an account, use the Service, or communicate with us. This includes:

  • Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address and any password you create. If you choose to use Google Sign-In, we may receive basic profile information that you authorize Google to share with us, such as your name and email address.
  • Sources, preferences, and content. We collect the websites, RSS/XML feeds, URLs, keywords, folders, tags, saved articles, filters, and other monitoring preferences you add to Skimmio. This is the information you intentionally provide to make the Service work for you.
  • Communications. If you contact us, we collect the contents of your message and any information you choose to provide.

2. Authentication

You may authenticate using an email address and password, or through third-party authentication providers such as Google Sign-In. If you use Google Sign-In, Google may share basic account information authorized by you, such as your name, email address, and profile information. Skimmio does not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, contacts, calendars, or other Google account data beyond what is needed to create and sign you into your account.

3. Automatically collected information

When you use Skimmio, we automatically collect certain technical and usage information necessary to operate, secure, and improve the Service. This may include:

  • IP address
  • Browser and device information
  • Timestamps and usage logs
  • Application activity and error diagnostics
  • Cookies, local storage, and similar session technologies needed to keep you signed in and to make the Service function

We do not use advertising tracking technologies or third-party advertising networks on Skimmio.

4. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and operate Skimmio
  • Authenticate users and keep accounts secure
  • Monitor the sources you choose to track
  • Display, organize, and filter articles and links for you
  • Save your preferences, tags, folders, and saved articles
  • Maintain the security and reliability of the Service
  • Troubleshoot issues and improve performance
  • Communicate with you when necessary, such as for service updates or support responses

5. Service providers

We use third-party service providers to operate the Service, including for hosting, databases, authentication, infrastructure, and related technical services. These providers process data only as needed to perform services on our behalf and are contractually or technically obligated to handle it appropriately.

6. Selling personal information

Skimmio does not sell users' personal information. We may share information with service providers to operate the Service, to comply with legal obligations, to protect the rights, safety, or property of Skimmio, our users, or the public, or in connection with a business transaction such as a merger or acquisition.

7. Data retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service and for legitimate operational, legal, and security purposes. When you delete your account or specific data, we will remove or anonymize it in accordance with applicable law and our technical capabilities.

8. Data security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. However, no internet service can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.

9. Your choices

You may access, update, or delete certain information through your account settings. You may also contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, subject to applicable law. To delete your account, please contact us at the email address below.

10. Third-party websites

Articles and monitored sources displayed through Skimmio are hosted by third-party publishers and websites. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party sites, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices or content. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party site you visit.

11. Children

Skimmio is not intended for children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
